About ChinaMedMap

ChinaMedMap matches international patients with the right medical care in China — the hospital, department and doctor that fit their needs — from licensed medical institutions whose identity we confirm from official sources.

Hands reviewing documents and a laptop at a meeting table

Quick answer. ChinaMedMap helps people from abroad find the right medical care in China. You tell us your medical needs; a person matches them with hospitals, departments and doctors that may be able to help, chosen only from licensed medical institutions whose identity we have confirmed from official sources. It is information and matching — not medical advice and not a guarantee of acceptance.

What we do — match you with the right care

China had 38,710 hospitals at the end of 2024. For someone abroad, the hard part is not finding a hospital — it is finding the one whose department, doctors and international services fit your case. Good hospitals publish most of their information in Chinese, spread across many pages, and third-party sites fill the gaps with marketing claims.

That is the problem we solve. You describe your medical needs; a person on our team reads them and matches you with hospitals, departments and doctors that may be able to help, so the doctor can judge in advance whether they can provide the care you need. Around that service we publish sourced hospital profiles and practical guides, so you can check everything we suggest.

How we screen providers

Every provider on ChinaMedMap is screened before it is listed. Chinese law allows no unit or individual to provide diagnosis or treatment without a Medical Institution Practising Licence (医疗机构执业许可证) or official registration, so legitimate medical credentials are our first requirement — not an extra. Hospitals and outpatient departments hold that licence; clinics, including traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) clinics, are opened by filing with the local health authority. TCM wellness centres (养生保健) are not medical institutions and may not diagnose or treat, so we never present one as a medical provider.

[2],[3],[4]
Our screening standard
CheckWhat we require
Legitimate medical credentialsA medical institution licensed or registered with Chinese health authorities to provide diagnosis and treatment. We add the licence or filing number to the profile once we have checked it
Confirmed identityLegal name, address and official website confirmed from the hospital's own pages or government sources
Type tagEach provider is tagged as a hospital, outpatient department or clinic (TCM providers marked as TCM). TCM wellness centres, which may not diagnose or treat, are never presented as medical providers
GradeA grade such as Grade III, Class A is tagged only where the hospital or a health authority states it on an official page
International servicesWhat the hospital offers international patients, taken from its own pages; anything unconfirmed is marked as such
Kept currentRechecked at least every 6 to 12 months; a provider that no longer meets the standard is removed
Not for salePayment cannot get a provider past screening or buy a verification label; unpaid listings stay alphabetical, and paid featured placements are shown separately and labelled Sponsored

How a request works

You can use the site without contacting us at all. If you would like help, the request goes to a person, not an algorithm.

1. SearchLook up a hospital by name in English or Chinese, or browse by city or specialtyNothing — what you type stays in your browser

How we check information

A fact is published only with a source: an official hospital page, a government or regulatory document, or a confirmation from an authorised contact at the institution. Each source records its owner, language, the date we retrieved it and a date to recheck it. Where official sources conflict or are silent, we write "not yet confirmed" rather than choose the more flattering answer. Read the full verification methodology.

Our evidence rules
RuleIn practice
Official sources onlyHospital websites, government and regulator pages, authorised hospital contacts
Every source datedRetrieval date and recheck date on every reference
Patient ratings and reviewsWritten by registered patients who have verified their email, shown on the profile after moderation; they never change the order of a list or a verification label
Profiles recheckedAt least every 6 to 12 months, sooner when a hospital tells us something changed
Labels mean something specific"Identity Verified", "Contact Confirmed" and "International Patient Services Confirmed" each describe one check — never clinical quality
Medical content reviewedClinical pages are published only after review by a qualified clinician; access guides stick to where care is offered and how to reach it
Photos from hospitalsHospital profiles use photos from the hospitals themselves; other images on the site are illustrative

How we handle your information

We use what you tell us about your medical needs only to find suitable hospitals and doctors for you, and we treat it as sensitive information. We keep inquiry records only as long as needed to handle your request, and delete or anonymise them within 24 months of our last contact with you unless the law requires otherwise. You can ask for a copy, a correction or deletion at any time, and we reply within 30 days. See the privacy policy.

How the site is funded

Some hospitals may in future have a commercial relationship with ChinaMedMap. When that is the case, the profile says so with a Partner Provider or Sponsored label. Money never affects screening, verification labels or medical content. Unpaid listings stay alphabetical; paid featured placements are shown separately and labelled Sponsored. See the ranking and sponsorship policy.

Common questions

What does ChinaMedMap actually do?

We match international patients with the right medical care in China. You tell us your medical needs, and a person replies with hospitals, departments and doctors that may be able to help — or tells you honestly if we cannot suggest one.

How do you choose which hospitals to list?

Every provider is screened first. It must be a medical institution licensed by Chinese health authorities, with its identity confirmed from official sources. We add its licence or filing number once we have checked it, record what it offers international patients and recheck every listing at least every 6 to 12 months.[2]

Is ChinaMedMap a hospital or a medical travel agency?

Neither. We are an information and matching platform. Hospitals decide whether they can see you; we cannot promise acceptance, a price or an outcome.

What should I tell you about my condition?

As much as you are comfortable sharing — diagnosis or symptoms, treatment so far, recent test results and what you hope for. It helps us match you with the right hospital and doctor, and lets the doctor judge in advance whether they can help. If reports or images are needed, we arrange with you how to send them.

Do hospitals pay to be listed or ranked higher?

A basic listing is free, and payment cannot get a hospital past our screening. We do not rank hospitals — the unpaid list is alphabetical. Hospitals on paid plans can have a featured placement, shown separately and labelled Sponsored, and any paid relationship is labelled on the profile.

Do you show patient reviews and ratings?

Yes. A registered patient who has verified their email can leave a rating and a review on a hospital profile, once per hospital. Reviews are shown after moderation. Hospitals cannot pay to add, remove or edit a review, and reviews do not change the order of the unpaid list.

How do I report an error?

Use the "Report incorrect information" link on any profile, or the contact page. We check reports against the official source and update the page or explain why we have not.
